As it is National Home Security Month we thought it was time for some tips on how to keep your home secure.

It’s October again and time for National Home Security Month (NHSM), raising awareness of the importance of home security.  Don’t assume that your home is secure, take the home security quiz and make sure your security systems are all up to date.

The NHSM website features a 5-week campaign covering a variety of home security tips and advice.

A trial of body scanners has taken place at Stratford station in London in the latest bid to fight knife crime in the city.  Thruvision scanners which have been approved by the US Transportation Security Administration are already being used in the Los Angeles metro and have also been trialled in New York and Washington DC.  

Theft of tools and machinery from construction sites continues to rise, and along with this is the additional problem of stolen JCB’s and forklift trucks being used in ram-raids on cash machines.  The cost of the damage done to a shop or bank can often be more than that stolen from the ATM.

Whatever the size of your business you can still be at risk, the number of companies in the UK affected by crime are always on the increase and the potential cost can be significant.  A sound security strategy should be an integral part of your business planning. Don’t put your staff and property at risk by simply hoping for the best.  And good security preparation will benefit you when it comes to renewing your insurance.
