Bringing security into your team
If you want the right people representing your business in front of house and other security roles, your best option in the current business climate may be bringing them into your in-house team.
In the aftermath of Covid, many people have been forced out of the sector and found new roles with more job security. This has left a resourcing crisis that is pushing up costs, leaving venues understaffed and forcing many agencies to compromise on quality.
With the tightening of tax and employment legislation and shifts in corporate liability, an arms-length relationship with a security agency is no longer the obvious choice. Instead, organisations are starting to employ security staff directly, using flexible contracts and support arrangements from specialists.
Supporting the transition to salaried security staff
At Leisuresec we help forward-thinking businesses to recruit, train and manage the right security people for their teams. We do away with all the uncertainty of agency staff, while sharing our expertise in selecting, developing and retaining the best door supervisors, front desk and other security people.
We will work with your managers and HR people to:
- Develop strategies for appropriate front-of-house security
- Find and select high quality security staff who fit your brand and culture
- Develop training and career paths to develop and retain them within your business
- Support managers with any disciplinary issues and help redeploy mismatched staff
- Offer a pool of quality temporary staff to cover sickness and absence
- Provide audits of security at your premises, backed up with advice and training
Flexible working and support
We are flexible in our service packages, to complement and build on the skills you have already in-house. Clients typically find that this approach delivers not only a better customer experience and more dependable front of house staffing, but also lower costs.
If you would like to find out more or discuss how we could help you, please email or call 0844 282 4300.

The SIA has developed top-up training to make sure current Door Supervisor and Security Guarding licence holders have the same basic skills and knowledge as new entrants achieving the updated qualifications.
From October 2021, door supervisors and security guards will need to complete top-up training before they renew their licence.

How to improve business security - Part 2: Cyber Security
Cyber security is as, if not more, important than physical security depending on what your business does. Use of computers and mobile devices are essential today and with this comes the ever-growing risk of hacking, viruses, phishing attacks and data breaches.
General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) were implemented across the EU in 2018, also addressing the transfer of personal data into and outside Europe.

How to improve business security - Part 1: Physical Security
At the end of last year the Home Office published the findings from the Crime against businesses: 2018 Commercial Victimisation Survey. The results showed that once again the Wholesale & Retail sector experienced the highest levels of crime with over 10 million incidents.

Keeping car parks safe for staff
Companies have a duty of care for their employees which also includes car parks. According to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 the owners or contractors of car parks have a responsibility to ensure car parks are safe. This covers both vehicles and people.
Carrying out a full risk assessment is the obvious first step to understand the potential hazards and identify methods of reducing the risks. There are different types of car parks, inside/outside, one level, multi-storey and underground, and all will have their own dangers and risks.

Who is responsible for security in a rental property?
When you’re planning a move into rented accommodation security should be one of the things you take into consideration. Its all very well finding the perfect home but if the landlord hasn’t taken care to keep the security up to date it might well be a risky option, and end up costing you more than you thought.
