We are looking for Frontline Security Officers to work at sexual abuse tribunals in the central London area (SE1).

Successful applicants will need to be able to demonstrate a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with survivors or victims of child sex abuse or other sensitive victims of sexual violence.   

You will also need to hold a valid SIA licence, although we will provide full training and SIA licences for the right candidates.  The most important requirement is experience of working with victims and survivors of sex abuse or violence.  

This experience can include working in probation services / mental health / prison services / police services / care sector / foster care services / NHS. 

Details of safeguarding training of vulnerable adults and or children would be an advantage and should be included in your CV. 

The post will commence in April and successful candidates will be joining a team of operatives. 

Hours:     08:30 – 17:00 on hearing days
The programme of hearings have not yet been confirmed but are expected to take place over 21 weeks (Monday – Friday) of the year

Location: London, SE1

Duties:

  • Check visitors and staff for contraband through the security arc at the venue, and/or by using hand-held metal detectors
  • Where appropriate, search bags prior to entry
  • Confiscate contraband items and storing these for the duration of the event
  • Refuse entry when appropriate
  • Work with Support Staff to ensure a safe and supporting environment is maintained
  • Share information with Support Staff where appropriate
  • Apply a trauma-informed approach in interaction and engagement with members of the public
  • Provide door pass access or security tags as required
  • Monitor CCTV footage covering Inquiry entrances
  • Provide an initial first aid response for those in attendance at hearings or seminars

 

​Key Skills/ Experience Required:

A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working with survivors or victims of child sex abuse or other sensitive victims of sexual violence.  Experience of providing services to this group is essential, such experience might include working with victims and survivors of child sexual abuse within a police force, local authority, NHS or mental health services, dealing with such issues.

  • Strong communication skills, able to engage with and put members of the public at ease
  • Self-motivated, punctual and reliable
  • Ability to work and remain calm under pressure and handle difficult, sometimes confrontational situations
  • Good levels of physical fitness (able to stand for long periods of time)
  • Customer service driven, polite and approachable interpersonal, verbal and written communication – polite and approachable
  • Unrestricted right to work in the UK for a minimum of 2 years
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • A full 5 year checkable employment/education history is required.
